As you read, keep in mind that OC served for a while as a Bible Teacher at Clapham Bible College, also that the readings/devotionals in this book were noted verbatim by his wife (trained in shorthand) and put together. So, some of the statements will seem like they are meant for those in Bible Colleges, Seminaries. Yes, the book is for one who wants to go deeper into the faith. Mother Theresa famously said, “Whatever you believe in, go deeper into it, then you will know the Truth !”

The ( late) Mrs. Ruth Bell Graham wife of the fine servant of God, Rev. Billy Graham said "“My Utmost For His Highest is one of a kind. It has been a source of challenge and blessing in my own life for years. I don't think anyone can read it consistently without being a better servant of Christ.”

It is my earnest prayer that this volume will be received with delight and shared freely.

“That I may know Him”

Oswald Chambers was born in Scotland and spent much of his boyhood there. His ministry of teaching and preaching took him for a time to the United States and Japan. The last six years of his life were spent as principal of the Bible Training College in London, and as a chaplain to British Commonwealth troops in Egypt during World War l. After his death, the books which bear his name were compiled by his wife from her own verbatim shorthand notes of his talks.

The book is in about 50 languages of the world including Greek, Hebrew ( by Messianic Jews) German, Chinese, French etc. and translations are continuing. A meditative reading of My Utmost For Highest should give one a deep and meaningful personal relationship with our Lord Jesus Christ, Triune God that is the need of every person. His Word, the Holy Bible and understanding it to internalize it, is the best and first option. Hearing The Word explained and interpreted correctly is the way forward. Then we have a book like My Utmost For His Highest which assists very effectively in this endeavor. The outcome of a personal relationship with Lord Jesus Christ is life, vigorous, vibrant life to be lived without fear in the midst of difficulties which are natural in this magnificent but fallen world.

JohnTen10 and Abundant Life

JohnTen10

…..I came so that everyone would have life, and have it in its fullest.. John 10 : 10 CEV Bible

I believe this is what our Lord Jesus Christ, Triune God gives us. Abundant Life. ” Life in its fullest”.

When there is deep contentment and gratitude in us to God, when we realise we have much more than we deserve, that Salvation is the greatest of all blessings, this is Abundant Life.

Christianity Today says it well :

“Abundant life is not about what we have. It’s not about what we get. It’s not about what we claim. Ultimately, abundant life is

about what we receive as a gift from the Lord and to live knowing we are stewards of the blessings of God.

It’s not a sin to be rich (though it might be missing the point if we die rich). Furthermore, stewardship is not measured by what we have received, but by what we have given.

At the end of the day, perhaps that is how we know we have an abundant life—when we have shared our life with others. When we have enough of the blessings of God (mercy, peace, love, grace, wisdom, etc.) to share with our others, and then actually do it; that’s when we truly have abundant life”

My favourite song today is our National Anthem, because as per the translation it’s meaning is connected to Salvation. Some people try to say that this was sung in honour of King George, this is false. After reading the meaning below, I hope you will also love our National Anthem by Nobel Laureate Rabindranath Tagore.

Thou are the ruler of the minds of all people, dispenser of India’s destiny. Thy name rouses the hearts of Punjab, Sind, Gujarat and Maratha. Of the Dravid and Orissa and Bengal.

It Echoes in the hills of Vindhyas and Himalayas, mingles in the music of Yamuna and Ganga and is chanted by the waves of the Indian Sea. They pray for your blessing and sing thy praise. The salvation of all people is in thy hand, thou dispenser of India’s destiny. Victory, Victory, Victory to thee.

Jana Gana Mana Adhinayaka Jaya He Bharat Bhagya Vidhata Punjab Sindh Gujarat Maratha Dravida Utkala Banga Vindhya Himachal Yamuna Ganga Ucchala Jaladhi Taranga Tubh Shubha Name Jage Tubh Shubha Ashisha Mange Gahe Tubh Jaya Gata Jan Gan Mangaldayak Jay He Bharat Bhagya Vidhata Jaye He ! Jaye He ! Jaye He ! Jaye,Jaye,Jaye,Jaye He “

It is my favourite song/anthem, also because my favourite poem is written by the same person !

Where the mind is without fear and the head is held high;

Where knowledge is free; Where the world has not been broken up into fragments by narrow domestic walls; Where words come out from the depth of truth; Where tireless striving stretches its arms towards perfection; Where the clear stream of reason has not lost its way into the dreary desert sand of dead habit; Where the mind is led forward by thee into ever-widening thought and action– Into that heaven of freedom, my Father, let my country awake. —

I believe Tagore Ji realised that the greatest need for any one, individual, family or country is Salvation (being reunited with God), in other words freedom from the power of evil (sin). All other so called progress (without Salvation) is actually moving at faster and faster speeds, but in circles !!

Why I believe in Jesus Christ

63 year old, male, born to Christian religion parents, Indian, average intelligence (I think and hope), average education, faculties (physical and mental) in reasonable working condition, quite okay family background and upbringing, (absolutely nothing lacking, no cause for complaint).

Why I believe in the Lord Jesus Christ

I am a weak person and need help to live my life well.

I have to accept that I have done enough wrong in my life, and I am sure there has to be retribution and recompense, which I cannot meet

While I know physical death is but inevitable, I do not wish to fear it.

I would like to be courageous and not fearful, and face the difficulties in the world head on.
I would like to believe with certainty that after death I will go to where God, my creator, is, and I would like to be sure that I do not go to where God, my Creator, is not !

I accept even through what is taught by most religions, that a pure blood sacrifice is needed for full recompense and retribution for wrong doing.

I believe that wrong doing is the result of wrong being (Sin), namely being separated from God

I believe in the blood sacrifice of the Lord Jesus Christ on the Cross. I believe this sacrifice was for all people of the world. I believe in the Bible. I believe in the Triune God.

I believe that better people than me have put their faith in Jesus Christ, particularly my grand father, great grandfather, my own parents and wife (is she better than me ?!, actually probably Yes). I am deeply impressed by the greatest commandments (which He says, encapsulate the whole Bible) of the Lord Jesus Christ in the Holy Bible, namely “Love God, Love others as you Love Yourself”. I believe these commandments are the answer to the world’s needs, even my own needs. They help me to the extent that I obey them, to be at peace with myself, love myself with gratitude for what and who I am and thereby be able to think likewise towards others.

I have to accept that I do not know what love is till I begin to look to God and be helped to love Him, and thus love myself and likewise others. I would like that I do not harm others, and instead, if possible be of some help to others. I would like to know right from wrong based on a sensitive conscience of good standard. I do not wish my life to be a waste. I would like to be real, realistic. Since I began to believe in the Lord Jesus Christ, I have experienced a lot of what I have mentioned above. So there ! The Way to go ? Yes, methinks ! YJK
